Vore Faldne Memorial

War monument at Kastellet in Copenhagen

Vore Faldne Memorial (Our Fallen Memorial) stands at the entrance to Kastellet in Copenhagen as a memorial to the Danish and Allied soldiers who lost their lives during World War II.

It was created by sculptor Svend Lindhart and erected in 1957, symbolising the sacrifices made and the memory of the war.

The sculpture, cast in bronze, depicts a soldier with bowed head in a contemplative pose, holding a lowered rifle. The monument serves as a central site for commemorative ceremonies and reflection, standing as a public representation of Danish wartime history.

The statue is beautifully framed by the scenic ramparts of Kastellet. For a broader perspective, visitors can climb the steps to the small elevation on the opposite side of the road, where the extra height provides an even better view of the area.
