Churchill Statue

Memorial bust of the English statesman

The bust of Winston Churchill (Busten af Winston Churchill) is located in Churchillparken near Kastellet in Copenhagen as a tribute to the British statesman during World War II.

The monument was unveiled in 1955 and created by the Croatian sculptor Oscar Nemon, who is renowned for his many portraits of Churchill. The bust depicts Churchill with a characteristic facial expression and is fittingly placed in the park named after him, emphasizing both his diplomatic significance and the historical ties between Denmark and the United Kingdom during and after the war.

The bust of Winston Churchill is relatively small, so one needs to get quite close to fully appreciate it. Its modest size and subdued colours, which blend naturally with the surrounding greenery, mean that it is not the most prominent memorial at first glance – but once spotted, it is difficult to miss.
