C.F. Tietgen Statue

A tribute to the Danish financier

The C.F. Tietgen Statue (Statuen af C.F. Tietgen) is located at Skt. Annæ Plads in Copenhagen and pays tribute to the Danish business leader and banker, who was the first director of Privatbanken and one of the most influential entrepreneurs of his time.

The monument was created by sculptor Rasmus Andersen and erected in 1904. The bronze figure depicts Tietgen standing, wearing a top hat with one hand tucked into the pocket of his coat. The statue was originally placed near Børsen, but was relocated to Skt. Annæ Plads in 1931 so that Tietgen could face the harbor, where many ships from his shipping company, DFDS, would dock.

Like the other statues on Skt. Annæ Plads, the C.F. Tietgen statue is best viewed from the front, where the symmetrical lines formed by the trees and pathways of the square create a calm and elegant backdrop.
