The Royal Danish Playhouse (Skuespilhuset) is located by Sankt Annæ Plads, close to Nyhavn, and is part of the Royal Danish Theatre.
Completed in 2008, the building features large glass facades, flat roof surfaces, and open, modern architecture that makes it both inviting and a distinctive landmark along Copenhagen’s harborfront. Inside, the Playhouse contains three stages of different sizes, foyers, cafés, and technical facilities that allow for both classical and contemporary theatre productions. As part of the Royal Danish Theatre, the building combines functionality with a visually striking expression and stands as a central cultural venue and architectural landmark in Copenhagen.
