Monument to the fairy-tale author

H.C. Andersen Statue (H.C. Andersen-statuen) at City Hall Square in Copenhagen was created by sculptor Henry Luckow-Nielsen and unveiled in 1965.

The statue depicts the world-renowned Danish author seated with a book and a walking stick, gazing towards Tivoli and H.C. Andersen Castle.

The monument is located at the western corner of Copenhagen City Hall and serves as a frequently visited symbol of the city, as well as a tribute to the fairy-tale author’s legacy and importance to Danish culture.

Cast in bronze, the statue stands on a simple plinth that highlights Andersen’s contemplative expression.
