Dronning Louises Bro

Historic and lively bridge in Copenhagen

Dronning Louises Bro (Queen Louise´s Bridge) is one of Copenhagen’s most iconic bridges, connecting Nørrebro with the Inner City across the lakes, near Sortedams and Peblinge Lake.

The bridge was originally built in 1887 and has long served as a central part of the city’s traffic and social life. The current bridge, renovated in the 1970s, combines functionality with aesthetic appeal and is known for its beautiful stone and metal construction as well as views of the lakes and surrounding green areas. Dronning Louises Bro is a popular gathering point for cyclists, pedestrians, and joggers, and the area around the bridge is famous for cafés, scenic walking paths, and green spaces that create a vibrant urban environment. The combination of historical significance, central location, and scenic surroundings makes Dronning Louises Bro one of Copenhagen’s most visited and photographed spots.

Dronning Louises Bro is one of the few bridges best experienced from the bridge itself, where Copenhagen’s vibrant life and atmosphere are most evident. Architecturally, the bridge is best viewed from the Nørrebro side, where it is beautifully framed by the elegant, symmetrical buildings of Søtorvet in the background.
