Christian IV Brewhouse
A historic building and architectural landmark
Christian IV´s Brewhouse (Christian IV’s Bryghus) is located on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen and dates back to the early 17th century.
Originally functioning as a brewery under Christian IV, the building is no longer active as a brewery and is now used for offices and events. The facades are constructed in red brick with small paned windows and characteristic gables, while the large vaulted rooms inside reflect the building’s industrial past. Its exceptionally high, tile-covered roof is a distinctive feature that really stands out. The robust architecture and historical details make it a prominent element of Copenhagen’s cityscape and an example of Renaissance-inspired industrial design. Its central location on Slotsholmen and well-preserved style make Christian IV´s Brewhouse a visible historic landmark in the city.
