Bronze sculpture of Danish princess
Prinsesse Marie Statue (Princess Marie Statue) is a bronze monument dedicated to Princess Marie of Denmark, located at Langelinie and Toldboden near Kastellet in Copenhagen. The monument was created by sculptor Carl Martin-Hansen and unveiled in 1912.
The memorial consists of a bronze bust of the princess, accompanied by a sculptural group depicting a woman and a child, also cast in bronze. The bust is positioned atop a granite column, with the two figures seated below on a granite staircase. The monument honours the princess’s contributions to culture, philanthropy, and Denmark’s international representation.

The statue of Princess Marie is set in a small, sheltered recess among bushes and is therefore best viewed from the front. In the background, visitors can glimpse the green ramparts of Kastellet and the distinctive tower of St. Alban’s Church. For a more creative and colourful composition, the small square flower beds can be used effectively as a foreground element.
