Wilders Canal

A historic canal with maritime atmosphere

Wilders Canal connects Christianshavn Canal to Copenhagen Harbour and runs through the charming Christianshavn district.

The canal was established in the early 1700s and is named after Carl and Lars Wilder, who operated a shipyard in the area. It is surrounded by beautiful historic buildings and small boats, creating an idyllic maritime atmosphere. Along the canal is Wilders Bridge, which connects the area to Strandgade, and many original quay and bridge elements have been preserved, reflecting Copenhagen’s maritime history. Wilders Canal is a popular spot for both locals and tourists who wish to experience Christianshavn’s cultural heritage and enjoy a peaceful walk along the water. The area is also used for kayaking and other water activities, allowing visitors to experience the canal from the water.
