Christiansborg Palace Chapel
Royal church at the heart of power
The Christiansborg Palace Chapel is one of Copenhagen’s most majestic churches, forming an integral part of Christiansborg Palace on Slotsholmen.
Built in the neoclassical style by architect C.F. Hansen and completed in 1826, the chapel has hosted many important royal ceremonies over the years, including baptisms, weddings, and memorial services – most notably the 2018 funeral service for Prince Henrik. Inside, the chapel impresses with its vaulted dome, stately columns, and a serene, dignified atmosphere. As an active part of Denmark’s royal tradition and the historical setting of Christiansborg, visiting the Palace Chapel offers a unique opportunity to experience grand architecture and Danish history up close.

The view of Christiansborg Palace Chapel is fairly open from most angles, but the best viewpoint is from Højbro, where the diagonal angle allows you to see both the impressive columns at the entrance and the large dome at the top of the church.
