Christians Church, located in the center of Christianshavn in Copenhagen, is one of the city’s most architecturally distinctive and culturally vibrant churches.

Built between 1754 and 1759 as a German Reformed church, it was designed by architect Nicolai Eigtved in the Baroque style with inspiration from theatre architecture. Inside, the church features a tall, open nave with tiered balconies along the sides, creating a space that feels both sacred and performative – ideal for concerts as well as worship. The sandstone and brick façade, topped with a slender tower and copper spire, gives the church a striking and elegant presence. Today, Christians Church serves both as a parish church and cultural venue, known for classical concerts, children’s theatre, and cross-cultural events.
