Striking Sculpture at Gammel Strand

Slægt løfter Slægt (Lineage Lifts Lineage) is a sculpture group located at Gammel Strand in Copenhagen, created by sculptor Svend Wiig Hansen and unveiled in 2000 in memory of Culture Minister Julius Bomholdt.

The monument symbolizes the continuity of generations and the social cohesion of society. It consists of several interconnected human figures, visually representing the idea that one generation supports the next. The sculpture is a central feature of Gammel Strand’s urban environment and serves as an artistic and cultural point of reference.
