Garrison Church

A church with military heritage

The Garrison Church, located on Sankt Annæ Plads in Copenhagen’s Inner City, is one of the city’s most atmospheric churches and has served as a church for the Danish military since 1706.

Built in Baroque style, the church features a harmonious facade, elegant dome, and a bright, high-ceilinged sanctuary. While it retains its historical ties to the armed forces, the church today also functions as a parish church and hosts services, concerts, and commemorative events. Inside, visitors will find historic monuments and memorials reflecting Denmark’s military and national history. With its connection to the Danish Defense and its location near Kastellet and Amalienborg, the Garrison Church is a unique fusion of faith, tradition, and history.
