St. Albans Church
English church in the heart of Copenhagen
St. Albans Church – also known as The English Church – is beautifully situated near Kastellet and Langelinie, and is one of the most picturesque churches in Copenhagen.
Built in the 1880s as an Anglican place of worship for the British community in Denmark, it is named after England’s first martyr, Saint Alban. The church features traditional English Gothic architecture, with grey limestone, pointed arches, and a slender spire that stands out in the green surroundings. Its peaceful location between Churchill Park and the Gefion Fountain adds to its serene and atmospheric appeal. Still active today, the church holds English-language services and welcomes visitors who wish to admire its architecture, learn about its history, or enjoy a quiet moment in a unique cultural setting.

St. Albans Church stands freely and is easily visible from all sides. However, the most picturesque view is from the ramparts of Kastellet, where the church is beautifully reflected in the water.
